After the final round of championship matches, here are the positions of the Angels’ teams:

ANG1 finished 5th in the National Division with 13 points. Lazy Lob 1 have been thrown out due to a rule infringement and therefore they finished 7th with 0 points. Not sure how this will affect the playoffs…will keep you posted.

ANG2 finished an excellent 2nd in Division 1 with 43 points. In the playoffs ANG2 will play for the possibility to move up to the National Division.

ANG3 finished =5th in the 2nd Division with 33 points. In the playoffs ANG3 will play to remain in this division.

Next week is the first round of the cup. All teams play at TopSquash on Wednesday 16th. Teams will be announced soon (in theory, none of the matches should present a problem…but that depends also on availability).

Unfortunately I do not have full details from all the matches.

ANG1 v ETT1. The match was drawn 2-2 but we lost on games countback. Sorry no further details.

BAST1 v ANG2.
Won 3-1 (9-4)…but we only had 3 players.
Keith won 3-0 vs B3
Eric G won 3-1 vs C1
Eric M won 3-0 vs C1

EIB2 beat ANG3 3-1 (9-5).
Richard won 3-0 vs C1
Jonny lost 1-3 vs C3
Tony lost 1-3 vs D1
Christian lost 0-3 vs ACL.

So, that wraps up the season. I don’t have the final placings yet but it looks as though only ANG2 will be in the playoffs with the possibility of going up. ANG1 and 3 will have to fight to stay where they are.

Next matches will be the first round of the cup. The draw is as follows:
ANG1 v SCS2
ANG2 v ETT4
ANG3 v PET2

These games must be played during the week of 14-18 Feb (most probably Wedn 16th). Details and teams will follow.

Just before we enter the last match before the playoffs, here are the current standings:

National Division
ANG1 lies 6th (from 7) with 14pts

1st Division
ANG2 lies 2nd (from 7) with 40pts

2nd Division
ANG3 lies 5th (from 7) with 32pts

Given the strength of the opposition (SCS1), I guess the outcome is not too suprising.

Patrick, Christian, Stavros and Dimitri all losing 0-3.

Patrick won 3-1 vs A1
Christian lost 0-3 vs A1
Rob won 3-2 vs ACL

Ang1 had a week off, so we managed to put out some strong 2nd and 3rd teams with the idea of getting the maximum of points.

ANG2 narrowly beat EIB1 on points countback (90-82) after the match was drawn 2-2 (7/7).

Jess lost 1-3 vs B2
Dimitri won 3-1 vs B3
Keith won 3-0 vs C1

ANG3 had an easy 4-0 (12-0) victory vs COM3
Eric M, Richard, Norbert and Jonny all winning 3-0.

Still 2 or 3 matches to go before the end of the season so hopefully we can keep on our “winning ways”!
